Terry Pellmar - Digital Art
About Terry Pellmar
Welcome to my website! I hope you enjoyed your visit.
If you are curious about my digital techniques, you can explore them further here.
My artistic journey began after my retirement from a career in science. While I am self-taught in digital art, I trained with local artists to develop my skills in traditional media.
Inspired by nature, fractals, and the world around me, I create distinctive digital art that blends traditional and modern techniques. Initially, I used my digital paintings to explore the wonders of my surroundings. But stressed by the woes of our world, I turned to my art as an escape. With fractal equations I create new worlds – 3-D spaces with infinite shapes, textures, and landscapes – that I can modify to my liking.
To paint digitally, an electronic stylus is my paintbrush and a computer screen is my canvas. My fractal work uses a graphic interface that allows me to view and capture the 3-D spaces generated by multiple complex equations. Using filters, textures, and other techniques in Photoshop, I further enhance both my digital paintings and fractal compositions. Printing, for me, is an integral part of the creative process. The choice of surface—be it paper, fabric, or acrylic skins—significantly influences the overall feel of the artwork.
My artwork has won numerous awards and honors. My work is on display in a variety of venues in the Washington/Baltimore metropolitan area including the Artists’ Gallery in Ellicott City, MD, and various solo and group exhibitions, juried shows.
